About MAKO POLO

Water polo has always been a part of the Imagine Swimming DNA. Past teachers have included a member of the US Women's Olympic Water Polo team and an assortment of international polo players who have incorporated their love of their sport into Imagine lessons.

In the fall of 2013, we made it official - when we introduced Mako Polo, an official club team within USA Water Polo. The team competes locally at tournaments across the tri-state area, and in its short history has already claimed the attention of top college programs in search of young polo talent.

Mako Polo is led by Coach Zoli Danko. Zoli hails from Hungary, one of the sport's international hotbeds. He earned a full scholarship for water polo at St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights, where he met his wife, Andi. Coach Andi also helps to lead our polo crew, and is an extremely accomplished player in her own right, as a former member of the Hungarian National Team. Joining Coach Zoli and Coach Andi is Coach Patrick Seaman who was a founding member of our Mako Polo team. Patrick currently attends NYU where he is studying Journalism and Middle Eastern Politics.

Mako Polo is currently offered at three Imagine pools across New York City- at the St. Francis College pool in Brooklyn Heights, at the Medgar Evers College pool in Crown Heights, and at the Léman Prep pool at Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan. Mako Polo is open to all interested members of the Manhattan Makos, along with advanced students 9 and older in Imagine Swimming lessons.

For more information and availability, please ask your Makos coaches or teachers, or give us a call at 212-253-9650 or email  zoli@imagineswimming.com

Splashball is suited for our advanced swimmers between the ages of 6 and 7 who might one day be interested in joining our water polo team.  The program prioritizes fun over competition and will give our youngest players some fundamental skills prior to joining the team. Splashball is the trademarked term by USA Water Polo designed to introduce the sport to beginners. As stated on the federation website "although water polo is known for its toughness and endurance, Splashball harnesses all the fun, dynamic aspects of the game in a safe, easy to learn aquatic experience that will motivate kids to swim and stay fit.

Splashball takes pLace at our flagship pool in Tribeca on Thursdays from 6:15P.M. to 7:15P.M.
